The Racine County Workforce Development Center, under the auspices of the Business Services Team, is the leading source of jobs in Southeast Wisconsin. We provide a broad array of services to professional and technical workers throughout a five county area, including career counseling and employment assistance.

The Workforce Development Center reaches professional and technical candidates from all of Racine County, as well as drawing interest from surrounding Southeast Wisconsin counties, including Kenosha, Waukesha, and the Milwaukee metropolitan area. By collaborating with job centers, technical colleges, and professional organizations throughout Southeast Wisconsin, Business Services is able to find and assist knowledge workers in advancing their careers. If possible, we help them find career opportunities in Racine County, but if not, we help find suitable employment in surrounding counties, including Kenosha County, Walworth County, Waukesha County or Milwaukee County. The net result is to contribute to economic growth by facilitating employment and career development among professional and technical workers in Southeast Wisconsin.

Following are some of the services provided by our team and others at the Racine County Workforce Development Center, who stand ready to provide personal career assistance to professional and technical workers who wish to advance their career or mount an aggressive job hunt.

  • Career Counseling – If you are considering a career change, our Career Counselor can provide invaluable insights relative to your interests and how to leverage your background to your greatest advantage. Includes no-cost individual testing.
  • Personal Employment Counseling - Whether unemployed or interested in career advancement, our Knowledge Worker Recruiter is available to meet with you to discuss career goals and to provide individual assistance in developing a strategy for career advancement in Southeastern Wisconsin.
  • The Workforce Development Center (WDC) - created to assist all residents in their job search within Southeast Wisconsin. The WDC offers:
    • Statewide Wisconsin job openings
    • On-site employment interviewing and hiring
    • Career counseling and skills assessment
    • Academic improvement and skills training
    • Job seeking skills workshops
    • Myers - Briggs Assessment (available in late spring 2005)
    • Dunn & Bradstreet database (available in January 2005)
  • The Resource Room - provides the tools needed to organize and conduct an effective job search. Includes: 
    • Access to JobNet the largest source of job postings not only in Southeast Wisconsin, but throughout the entire state. Jobs are arranged by region and job category. You may also search by job description or company name. Each opening provides a job description, its requirements, and how to apply.
    • Newspaper Classified Ads – We have a large variety of local and regional newspapers on hand:

    • State of Wisconsin Bulletins – Find State jobs and test site information.

    • Recruiting Announcements – On-site employer recruitments and other employment events are listed on the TV marquee in the Resource Room and on signs in the lobby. Also call 619-JOBS (5627) to learn which employers will be recruiting at the WDC.
  • Professional/Technical Networking: 
    • Pro-Tech Job Seeker Workgroup - Job search workgroup designed specifically for professional-technical knowledge workers having an associate degree or higher level of education. Group meets on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at CATI in Stu;rtevant.
    • Executive Workgroup - Job search workgroup designed specifically for executives searching for employment. Contact the Workforce Development Center at 262-638-6640 and ask for the Knowledge Worker Recruiter for more information or to register.
  • Professional/Technical Resume Assistance - Our Knowledge Worker Recruiter will meet with you individually to critique your resume or cover letter and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Resume Software - Instant Resume, Microsoft Word and Winway Resume software is available in the Resource Room at the Workforce Development Center. 
  • Professional/Technical Resume Workshop - This hands-on workshop is a great opportunity to have your resume critiqued, and to get help making revisions that effectively communicate your experience, skills, and abilities to employers. 
  • Focused Career Fairs - Designed to help you learn about various career opportunities in Racine County.
  • Internet Resume Posting - List your resume on RacineRecruit.
